Kite Turbine Overview:

A ”kite turbine” is a turbine whose blades are composed entirely out of soft or flexible materials. The blades raise themselves in the wind mainly because of their aerodynamic properties as opposed to the inherent stiffness of the materials themselves. The wind power generated is transmitted to the hub via cables.

These are some pictures of the latest kite turbine design, which will be explained in this particular post.

”Strength through softness”

The main purpose of the Kite Turbine is to increase solidity-per-weight ratio. The solidity of a turbine determines how large fraction of the sweep area that the blades cover. This means a larger part of the area can be covered using lighter building materials.

Some scientific reports support the evidence that a higher solidity could be beneficial for wind turbines.

The reson why it is possible to reduce weight, is similar to why cable bridges can be much more light-weight compared to bridges made out of welded metal boxes or other steel structures. It is not that the material of the cable bridge is stronger in itself, as the cables also consist out of steel. It is just that the flexibility of the cables enables the cable bridge uses its strength optimally. The forces of the bridge is applied along flexible cables, as opposed to perpendicular to rigid structures that can easily tear or crack.

To give some additional insight to the technological DNA of the kite turbine, here is a clip a friend of mine sent me that shows a pretty though umbrella. It shows that it is possible for a semi-soft structure to raise itself in the wind due to its aerodynamic properties, similar to how a kite turbine works.

Just to give some idea about the possible benefits of a kite turbine, consider that a traditional wind turbine, just the blades of it, could weight around 100 metric tonnes. A kite turbine could potentially offer an ultra light-weight alternative that can be folded for easy transport.

General Assessment:

For the kite turbine, we can summarize the possible mechanical benefits as follows:

• It will be possible to create wind turbines of higher solidity using less building materials. Some research indicate that a higher turbine solidity would increase efficiency over a range of wind speeds.
• Reduced turbine weight could make it possible to build larger turbines, that reaches higher into the skies.
• The mass reduction could make the turbine easier to start at lower wind speeds.
• Less mass and inertia of the turbine could possibly lessen the structural demands of the wind turbine attachments.

On the other hand, there are some potential drawbacks:

• There is a possibility that a kite turbine could vobble if the blades gets out of synch. Wether this actually is a problem, or if it could be solved with cables between the blades is an open question.
• Generator construction becomes quite different with a slower moving turbine of higher torque.

There are practical aspects of the Kite turbine:

• A possibility to fold or disassemble the blades could make it easier to transport and mount a larger turbine on to a tower.
• It might be possible to create a large sized turbine for sailboats, to be placed near to where humans and animals move, without risk of ”chopping someones head off”. Since the blades could be made out of foam, bent inwards and covering low tension draglines, it would be very safe even to walk directly into the fast spinning turbine.
• A turbine that is foldable could be made portable, taking not much more space than the generator itself. Because of its low blade inertia and softness, it is easier to mount it on a makeshift, low quality pole. This could be used for for hiking, or for disaster area power generation.
• In Sweden, the airforce has been complaining that traditional wind turbines confuse their radar systems which confuse them with helicopters, and they want them placed far from their bases. It is likley that a slower moving construction made out of cloth and draglines will have a more suble radar profile.

This sums up the purley technical and practical potential benefits and drawbacks. But there are aesthetic considerations:

• As a kite turbine is basically shaped as a submarine propeller and rotates slowly because of its high solidity, it is likely that it will be extremely silent. Making it possible to place such a turbine closer to residential areas.
• Since the kite turbine rotates more slowly because of its high solidity, it is probably more pleasant to rest the eyes on. This will make it easier to place the turbine in areas of denser populations without protests.
• The spiraling shape will make the movement of the kite turbine appear softer and more organic. However, will it have a hypnotic effect on whoever beholds it?
• A kite turbine could be made out of transparent materials, making it blend into its surroundings even more.

Previous progress:

As far as I know this is the only Kite Turbine project available. It draws inspiration from other wind power generation concepts such as Italian KiteGen, and USA based Magenn. So far this is a 100% non profit project. I present all insights on my blogg, and share my blade generation source code with anyone who wishes to take part in this narrow technical niche for whatever reason.

Currently I have proved that various prototypes of this turbine design actually do work. This first working version shows a quite vivid turbine, even though it was created with very little sophistication. The shape of the blade is basically created using ”rule of thumb” and ”hands-on-handcraft”.

Later I created a computer program to generate the blade shape in a more orderly fashion, and I experimented with longer blades that would require a smaller hub.

However, the aerodynamic properties of this turbine was not ideal. For example, the blade tip just ends sharply and would probably cause turbulence. The blade width also remain constant along the blade, and even if this makes it similar to an ordinary ”propeller style” turbine, I believe that a kite turbine would preferably have a blade that gets wider towards its tip to fully utilize the best part of its sweeping area.

The current aim is to kind of cross-breed these turbines. Make a computer generated turbine with wider blades towards the turbine edge, and with blade tips of better shape.

In addition to this, a number of other things has also been improved in the turbine generation software. For example spiral generation, adaptation to the hub, templates etc. The new generation software is basically better in most aspects. The first picture of this blog post is an example of what kind of turbine it can generate.

The New Generation Program

This time I present a new generation program that can create a wide range of differnet kite turbines with different number of blades, angle, spiral shape etc. etc. The source code is available for download here.

Instructions: Download the single file and place it in the ”plugins” folder of your installed Google Sketchup. Restart Google Sketchup or type ”load ‘SuperBlade.rb’” in the ruby console to activate the plugin. Use the plugins menu to generate some different kinds of kite turbine.

The spiral

In previous generation I have used archimedes-spiral to generate the curve. While this seemed quite straightforward solution, it wasn’t as good idea as I first thought. One problem is that the tangent of the curve is completely wrong near to the hub, and somehow the shape was not right so I had to mix it with a curve that grows stronger near angle = 0. So in the end it was just conceptually messy and not worth the effort.

What I really wanted was a curve that started as some kind of circular curvature, and then at some point it would continue as a curve that is orthogonal to the tangent of the hub at every step. This would make the top blade tip orthogonal to its drag-lines, which could make some sense.

To define a radial curve that is orthogonal to the hub tangent at every point seemed like a very difficult thing to do mathematically, so I had to find some kind of numerical approximation. What I did was to create a parametric curve that just bends at a constant angle at the start, until the angle of the curve gets close to being orthogonal to the hub tangent. At that point, the angle of every curve segment could be approximated by some interpolation between the angles that would make either side of the curve segment orthogonal to the hub tangent.

The last part of the curve could also end in a perfect orbit around the hub. In the final turbine generation program it is possible to interpolate between either by setting a certain variable.

The idea is that this would in general create a suitable curve.

Lastly, there are mechanical issues involved in the spiral that this model completely ignores. To get an optimal shape, it would probably be necessary to co-optimize the spiral shape together with the blade shape in order to find a mechanical and aerodynamic equilibrium. But this is simply outside the scope of this humble hobby project.

Easier to fit the turbine to a hub

With the new program it is much easier to fit the turbine to any given hub. The reason is that relevant measures are now given directly to the model, for example hub depth etc.  Here is the quite extensive list of parameters taken from the program.

Some of these parameters are necessary, some are redundant, making it possible to express the same thing in a number of different ways. For example, the angle of the blade against the wind direction can be set in a number of ways. Either give it directly, or for example set the width and depth of the blade at either the tip or at the hub.

(Note: The terminology of the program uses the word ”ceiling” to denote the part of the blade that generates forces away from the hub, and ”wall” for the part of the blade that generates rotational forces. The blade has ”wall” properties near the hub, and gradually assume ”ceiling” properties near its tip. )

The Z-alignment and blade sweeping:

Previously I had the front or the back of the cross sections align themselves Z-wise. Now since the blade can get much thicker at the tip, such simple alignment would not work. What I settled for was simply two linear functions that blends as the blade transcends from mostly generating rotational force, to mostly generating expansion force.

In the first image shown the base of the blade has a slight sweeping, and no sweeping at all for the part that only generates expansion force. However, considering how the Senz umbrella works, it would maybe make sense to have no sweeping at all, making the turbine stand straight out from the hub. This could perhaps reduce Z forces on the turbine as a whole?

Cross section Generation

As I mentioned in the previous post, the general idea is to create each cross section inside an euclidian box that has height =0 just at the hub, and then possibly grows along the length of the blade depending on the parameters. In this euclidian space, the force generated upwards will expand the kite blade, and the force generated rightwards will make the blade turn. The euclidian geometry is then warped around the hub. This is for example why there is a very nice fit around the hub at the very base of the blade.

The reason why a box is used, is because a cross section created along the diagonal can have aerodynmical properties that relate to both the turing and the expanding force of the blade at the same time. This is for example why the very tip of the kite turbine blade can create additional rotational force, rather than just cause turbulence as in my previous design.

In the last post I discussed having a wing profile of some scale that was just beeing rotated along the diagonal axis. However, when I tried to setup some way to configure the wing profile scale, it made more sense to actually relate the wing profile scale and direction directly to the local wind-flow somehow. I did this in a number of steps.

1. 1. Determine the plane normal for the cross section. This is created from two vectors: a) The XY-plane normal of the parametric spiral that is the back bone of the blade. b) The diagonal of the euclidian box.
2. 2. Create a wind vector, given the angular speed of the turbine at that point. This is essentially an XZ-plane projection of the diagonal of the euclidian box.
3. 3. Create the orthogonal projection of the wind vector onto the cross section plane, using results from 1 and 2.

Now we have the plane of the cross section and the wind vector’s projection upon it. This is the basic information we need to generate the cross section. Now we only need to determine how the blade’s upper and under side should be angled in comparison to the wind. This is simply done by setting two angles. So the cross section generation is finished by following these steps for the upper and under side respectively:

1. 4.1. Rotate the wind vector projection from previous step 3 by either A or B.
2. 4.2. Calculate a normal of the blade by creating the difference between the vector from 4.1 and the orthogonal projection of this vector onto the diagonal of the euclidean box.
3. 4.3. Calculate a scale that would fit the first vertex of the wing profile prototype on the rotated vector from 4.1, assuming that the base of the wing profile is stretched along the euclidean box diagonal.
4. 4.4. Create the cross section vertexes by adding the top left tip of the cross section, a fraction of the euclidean box diagonal and the blade unit-normal scaled according to the scale from 4.2.

Now that these vertexes are finished in euclidean space, warp them around the hub and then the cross section is finished!

So, what I have is a pretty neat way to generate the wing profile. I can basically create any shape I want, so now it is just a question of what the optimal wing profile should look like. Maybe I should try to find some expert on airfoil design, and try to gain some insight?

Improved templates

When I built the last turbine I noticed it was cumbersome to get some things right. Therefore, If I will ever build another prototype, I made some improvements on the auto-generated templates. First of all I now have comprehensive ”hub layout” that can be printed out and attached to the hub so it is easy to see where to attach all lines and blades etc.

When I started this project, I though about putting wind turbines on blimps. However, considering that the earth is potentially running out of helium resources, blimps dependent on helium seems like a bad idea for renewable energy. Essentially what happens to helium that leaks into the atmosphere, is that it drifts out of our atmosphere, never to be seen again. On the other hand, with Japan showing what can happen to Nuclear plants if there is no power, maybe power generating helium blimps could make sense for disaster area usage. If the safety could be maintained somehow, perhaps unmanned hydrogen blimps could also be a future option.  Here is what a kite turbine on a blimp could look like:

Here is what a Kite Turbine could look like if used on a regular tower. However, considering that the kite turbine is potentially lighter, maybe it could influence the design of the tower itself? Would it be possible to use cables in the tower construction somehow when the forces sideways due to wind interaction become more of an issue, as opposed to the sheer weight of the turbine? I noted that new design for a Norwegian floating wind turbine had cables in the tower construction, so maybe it would be something to consider.

The generation program also allowed me to visualize another Idea i have had for a Kite turbine. I like to go camping in the summer, and sometimes I think it would be cool to have your own way of generating green power without renting an electricity pole. Since such a turbine would have to direct itself into the wind, I tried to make a kind of ”parachute” shape that maybe could help in doing that. Note how the sweeping is negative at the tip of the blade for this purpose. At least I think it looks cool .

The generation software could generate all kinds of strange turbines. Here are some of the more strange ones:

This last picture reminds me of another cool windpower design I came across that is called Spiral Airfoil. The efficiency estimates for the spiral airfoil also indicates that higher solidity makes more sense for wind turbines.

Raising the turbine in the wind

I would like to make a remark about how to make it easier for a Kite Turbine to start, and prevent entangling of its blades. Even though a wind turbine could raise itself in the wind, it might be a good idea to give it some assistance by creating some flexible structure that is just strong enough to raise the blades themselves in the wind.  Any strong force generated from the wind however, will be taken care of by the cables that transfer that force to the hub, so the flexible structure need not be able to withstand such forces.

Raising the turbine when there is no wind can be  done in a number of ways.

For smaller turbines, the blades could have a core out of spring-steel or carbon/glass-fibre, or the blades could be filled with plastic foam of some sort.

A friend of mine, Tobias came up with the idea of having a thin ring of some flexible material circling around the turbine like a thin faeries wheel with cables that raise the turbine.  This idea could possibly also work for larger turbines.

For very large turbines, for example if mounted on a blimp or a tower, blades pressurized from the inside with helium or air could be considered.  If helium was used, the turbine itself would have neutral buoyancy which could be interesting in itself.

If the purpose is just to prevent completley soft blades from getting entagled, a thin and long glass- or carbon-fibre sprout at the back of the turbine could be sufficient. This way blades from the top of the turbine will not topple over and reach down to the blades at the bottom.  The blades on the top will just rest over the sprout when there is no wind.

The next step

For now I am starting to feel quite satisfied with my achievements in this project. It was something that was fun doing, but I start to feel that I have reached the limit of what I could do.  There are other interesting projects, such as perhaps make another go at building a new programming language.

Perhaps I will use the templates this summer to build a turbine together with my son just for the fun of it, but it is not for sure.

Ibland kan en tillbakablick sätta nuet i perspektiv. Jag befinner mig i Malmens flygvapenmuseum i Linköping. I en mörk hall kan man blicka ut över forna decenniers krigsmaskiner. Det är i muséets nya avdelning som handlar om kalla kriget. Här kan man se den funktionella men något fula JA 37 Viggen, och den framåt-blickande och idealistiska Saab 35 Draken. Båda, var och en, uttryck för ett lands ambitioner och föreställningar genom tiden.

För att ge besökaren en bild av tidsandan som hör ihop med de olika maskinerna, så hade de inrett små rum i tidstypisk stil för 60-, 70- och 80-talen. Jag fastnar speciellt för 80-talsrummet. Jag känner igen den glansiga lädersoffan, och det vita, lite småborgerliga vitrinskåpet som var vanliga på den tiden. Min ungdom har tydligen redan blivit ett museieföremål.

Jag har en del minnen ifrån 80-talet. Jag minns den framtidstro som en gång i tiden genomsyrade samhället. Visst fanns det problem. Visst var det socialdemokratiska betongsamhället trist och tråkigt på många sätt, men det fanns i alla fall en grundläggande trygghet som jag tror att människor som växer upp idag har svårt att förstå. Det var självklart att alla människor skulle få jobb, åtminstone de som gjorde en minimal ansträngning. Det var självklart att framtiden var ljus, och att vi snart skulle lösa samhällets alla problem. Jag minns min Amiga-dator, och den bekymmerslösa och pojkaktiga andan i tidningar som Data Magazin, som många av oss datanördar läste på den tiden. Men samhällets självförtroende försvann. Vi blev ett samhälle präglat av rädsla.

Något måste ha hänt längs vägen. Jag minns en disig morgon då TV:n meddelade att dåvarande statsministern Olof Palme just hade blivit skjuten. Jag kan inte ha varit speciellt gammal vid den här tiden. Ungefär ett år innan hade det proklamerats att det skulle bli lättare att låna pengar, lånetaket hade avskaffats. Jag förstod inte så mycket av det här då, men jag minns att min pappa berättade om att det var dumt att spara pengar på grund av inflationen. Den som istället lånade pengar för stora investeringar kunde istället tjäna pengar på inflationen, och få sina lån urvattnade samtidigt som man behöll den fasta egendomen. Så kallade börshajar som gjorde snabba klipp blev ett begrepp. Några år senare så small det.

Jag minns den första så kallade lågkonjunkturen. Jag betraktade den från skolans trygga åskådarläktare. I början blev det nästan något man skämtade om. Det gjordes filmer som ”En på miljonen”, och i Lasse Åbergs filmer så talades det plötsligt om ”lågkonjunkturen”, och ekonomiska fifflare fick en än mer framträdande roll. Men numera skämtar man inte längre om detta. Den arbetslöshet som då skapades har blivit en varaktig del av vårt samhälle. Något som vi aldrig kom över, och som det därför inte är värt att skämta om. Det var inte heller någon lågkonjunktur, det var en regelrätt ekonomisk depression, och sedan dess har stora ekonomiska bekymmer kommit och gått med jämna mellanrum.

Det verkar som att landet till sist, trots alla fantastiska krigsmaskiner blev invaderat av en makt som var oss övermäktig. Alla tusentals kulsprutor och missiler var förgäves. Vi kastades in i ett krig som inte kunde vinnas med vapen. Istället för att fienden kom österifrån, så kom den i form av en arme av kostymklädda banktjänstemän som nästan utan att synas trängde sig igenom vår försvarslinje och angrep oss inifrån. Istället för att demokratin och människorna skulle kunna över styra sitt öde, så var det nu bankernas med deras kapitalexpansion och storkapitalet som skulle sätta dagordningen. Vi påtvingades till sist ett planekonomiskt system vilket vi alltid hade fruktat. Men det var en blå planekonomi. En bankernas och storkapitalets planekonomi. En planekonomi där de få styr över de många, på samma förkvävande sätt som i det forna Sovjetunionen. På så vis så ockuperades Sverige till sist utan att ett enda skott avlossats, ja, möjligen kanske ett då. Kanske är det ett tecken i tiden, att omständigheterna kring mordet på Olof Palme har börjat ifrågasättas.

Banksektorn stal makten över våra pengar och använde den för deras egna intressen framför folkets önskan om låg arbetslöshet. Om det finns en enda dokumentärfilm som alla Svenskar borde se, så är det Dan Josefssons ständigt lika aktuella film Novemberrevolutionen. Det är kanske den viktigaste dokumentärfilmen som spelats in i Sverige, någonsin. Detta tidslösa dokument berättar historien om hur Sverige blev som det blev. Vad som hände, och vilka som var ansvariga.

Men det var inte bara en expanderande banksektorn som trängde undan demokratin. Politiker spelade själva en stor roll i försvagandet av demokratin i takt med att partitopparna blev allt mer distanserade från folkrörelserna och allt mer inriktade på bibehållandet av makten. I jämförelse med forna tiders idealister, framstår de flesta av dagens politiker mera som deltagare från Idol eller någon annan dokusåpa. Eller hur tomt klingar egentligen inte dagens politikers tal, om man jämför med en röst ifrån det förflutna.

Men även om Olof Palme var en företrädare för Socialdemokratin, så vill jag understryka att detta aldrig någonsin har handlat om en kamp mellan höger eller vänster. Frihet och solidaritet har aldrig någonsin stått i motsats till varandra, till skillnad från vad det etablerade samhället har velat få oss att tro, utan denna skenbara motsättning har endast bidragit till att bibehålla landets förvirrade tillstånd.

Kampen har som alltid handlat om de stora och mäktiga, mot de små och maktlösa; ”The small people” som makteliten uppenbarligen kallar oss vanliga människor.

Storkapitalet hade sedan länge haft kontroll över våra gemensamma naturresurser, och i den nya andan präglad av rädsla för kapitalflykt i en globaliserad värld, kom rikedoms-klyftorna att öka ytterligare och bli större än de någonsin tidigare varit. Ingen vågade protestera. Inför denna invasion har vanliga människor stått som paralyserade, oförmögna att orientera sig. Attacken kom från alla håll.

Vi ser nu dessutom ett samhälle där integriteten på Internet blir allt mer hotad, och i vanlig ordning så börjar vissa grupperingar skylla alla våra problem på invandrare.

De gamla krigsmaskinerna blickar ner mot mig, med sina tomt ekande luftinsug och förarsäten där ingen mer skulle sitta. Jag går därifrån och låter minnena skingra sig.

Det är 2011 nu, och vi lever i en ny värld. 80-talet kommer aldrig mer att komma tillbaka, men framtiden kan bli vår igen om vi vill ta den.

Till exempel så följde jag USA:s ekonomiska kris under 2008, och nog fick man en bestämd känsla av att medierna låg åtminstone ett halvår efter i rapporteringen. När medierna började tala om recession, så hade olika oberoende video-bloggare talat om recession sedan minst ett halvår tillbaka, kanske mer. Följande graf från Google Trender visar att det snarare kan röra sig om upp till ett år tidigare:

Google Trends, är ett verktyg som analyserar hur frekventa en viss sorts sökning har varit. En nyhet är att man nu även kan se aktiviteten i Google News  om ett visst ämne. Google News publicerar artiklar från olika tidningar världen över, och får sägas vara representativt för de traditionella medierna. Man får anta att sökningar på Google på ett ungefär motsvarar aktiviteten på nätet i övrigt.

Men detta är inte det enda fallet där medierna och aktiviteten på nätet skiljer sig markant. Till exempel så kan man se ett liknande mönster vad gäller ”peak oil” och ekonomisk återhämtning:

Vad gäller peak oil så kan man notera att intresset på nätet har svalnat, i samma takt som medierna hakat på. Man kan undra om sökandet på nätet har avtagit eftersom medierna redan tar upp ämnet i tillräckligt hög grad, eller om intresset i största allmänhet håller på att svalna.

Men det finns andra typer av mönster. Om vi tittar på mediernas favoritämnen, terrorism och ekonomisk tillväxt, så kan man notera följande mönster:

Hur kan man tolka dessa grafer? Är det inte misstänkt likt att medierna tjatar på om dessa ämnen, samtidigt som allmänheten blir allt tröttare och tröttare på att höra talas om detta? Eller finns det någon annan förklaring?

Men man kan även hitta en del oroväckande saker. Om vi pratar om ekonomisk kollaps, så kan man notera följande trend vad gäller sökningar på Internet:

Det verkar som att det finns en viss ökande trend vad gäller att söka information om ekonomisk kollaps. Kan detta vara ett tecken på någonting?

My name is Robert Wensman and I am a computer scientist located in Sweden. I came to know about the Zeitgeist movement in 2008, in the midst of the financial crisis, and this movement has in a deep way influenced my view of the world. In particular by pointing out the inherent flaws of our financial systems, and giving inspiration in how we could create a completely new system.

Even though the view and beliefs of the Venus project resonate with my own vision for a better world, I have to say that there are some hard facts that the Zeitgeist movement seem oblivious to, in particular related to computer science and computational complexity and automated decision making, the methods of science and resilience on the top most level of society.

As a side note: When I was young I had ideas similar to some which can be found in the Venus project, in particular in regards to the automated production system, but as I started to study computer science and computational complexity I had to revise or even reject some of these Ideas. The purpose of this message is to share this insight, and at the end propose alternative ways of creating a resource based economy in the same spirit as the original one proposed by the Venus project, yet quite different. Now lets start with the first fact.

Fact 1:

Automated planning and optimization becomes exponentially more expensive in terms of computational resources as the size of the problem increases.

What does this mean? It simply means that if you want to automatically optimize the construction of a certain machine, artifact or system by using a computer, it becomes exponentially harder to do so as the complexity of what is being optimized is increased.

We can take a simple example that is easy to understand:

Say for example that we would like to design a car. If there is just one parameter with 10 different choices, the total number of cars to choose from is just 10. But say for example that there are 10 such parameters. This means that the number of possible car designs in total are 10*10*10*10… or in other worlds. 10^10. or 10000000000. If there are 100 such parameters of the car, the number of possible cars djup to 10 0000000000 0000000000 0000000000 0000000000 0000000000 0000000000 0000000000 0000000000 0000000000 0000000000. That is a one with 100 zeroes, a very big number.

So, what we can see from this simple example, is how the number of possible solutions virtually explode as the number of parameters increase from 1 to just 100. Most people of the zeitgeist movement are familiar with the destructiveness of the exponential growth of money. For automated planning and optimization, there is a similar explosion in regards to how much computational resources is needed depending on the number of parameters.

How about if we use super-computers? Unfortunately, it seems that the size of a computer matters little as any exponential function quickly outgrows any given computational limitation. Because of exponential computational complexity, it is in fact very easy to overload the most powerful computer imaginable, even with a rather simple problem. So, it becomes necessary to somehow limit the number of solutions that needs to be considered, but this imposes a subtle problem as we shall see.

So, how is this relevant to the Zeitgeist movement? The Venus project envisions an automated production system based on a computer that optimizes natural resource utility. But apparently there are inherent difficulties involved in doing so, and even if there are ways of dealing with these computational explosions, it comes at a price.

The only way to deal with exponential complexity is through imposing some restraints on what possible solutions are explored, define in what order the possible solutions are explored or identifying sub-systems that could be optimized individually. In effect this means that the programmer of the automated decision making system will have to imprint his or her own opinions into the system. It might not be obvious, or subtle to the untrained eye, but it is still an indisputable fact.

What this means, is that when it comes to real problems of the world, such as designing a car, building a city or deciding on what energy system to use, there is no such thing as an unbiased or neutral automated decision making system that can do it. It is simply impossible to build such a system due to the laws of computation.

Fact 2:

Rationality deteriorates when facing the unknown.

An even more problematic aspect of automated decision making is when it comes to planning or optimization when some facts are unknown. There is by definition no truly rational way of dealing with unknown facts. It is possible to make what we call ”informed guesses” based on previous knowledge, but any method for doing so needs to ultimately depend on unproven assumptions about reality, or to put it in another way, ”other guesses”.

An example of this is when undertaking the task of exploration. During the process of exploration, it is impossible to determine the outcome of a certain decision, simply because the whole idea with exploration is to discover the unknown. To give an example:

It would be difficult for an automated system to determine if we should drill for geothermal power in a certain area, or if we should build wind turbines to obtain power. This could simply depend on the fact that we might not know what lies beneath the surface of the earths crust in that particular place. We could of course drill some holes in order to examine the area, but in doing so we have already invested quite a lot of resources.

So basically, sometimes decision-making involves making bets where the outcome is uncertain by necessary.

Trekkies might notice that this is one base for the constant dramatical tension between captain Kirk and Spock. Logic reasoning, while seemingly superior, becomes futile in the face of uncertainty. At the same time, irrational human emotions can prove useful when making bets and exploring the unknown. In other words, to go where no man has gone before

This again makes it necessary for the programmer of the automated decisionmaking system to insert into it assumptions and oppinions. This unintendedly puts power in the hands of the programmers of such systems.

Fact 3:

Even if decision making is not a matter of opinion, decisions are derived from opinion, collective or individual.

For example, the decision to live is based upon opinion, the opinion of believing life is better than non-life. This might be an extreme example, but it points to a very important fact, namely that in the end, all actions have an intention or purpose based upon opinion.

And while many opinions might not be a matter of debate, such as that humans should have enough food to eat, adequate shelter and means of communication. Many things in human society is based upon less universal opinion, where compromise and tradeofs become necessary.

For example, if an automated production system built a public library, it would still not be able to choose the color of the building automatically. This is because the preference of color is a matter of public opinion or even personal opinion.

So, a society needs mechanism by which it can deal with personal and public opinion, and create the fair trade-offs between conflicting opinions. One mechanism by which to resolve such conflicts in opinion is using democracy and majority voting. Another way to do it is to use some kind of explicit currency and trade.

Fact 4:

The scientific method to explore the world is not rational. The scientific community is therefore a hierarchical institution based mainly on prestige and social networking.

Considering previously presented facts about computational complexity, dealing with unknown facts and opinion, it should come as no surprise to us that the scientific method to explore the world is not as rational as it often described as. The human brain is also subject to the laws of nature, and is also unable to deal with the true complexity of the world.

So, while it is true that the scientific method can allow us to verify whether some theory is true or not, at least to some reasonably reliable extent. The scientific method offer very little in regards to how we arrive at the theory that we would like to verify. How we decide what field of science should be explored or what scientific paradigm should be used.

Because of this, it should also not be very surprising that the scientific community can to a large degree be described as a political institution, where other things rather than hard facts play a significant role in the decisions being made.

So for example, if the scientific community is set with the task of constructing an automated production system, by necessity embodying certain premises and non-apparent opinions, it is very likely that the scientific community will become the scene for a bitter struggle for domination, as representatives of different scientific paradigms battle each other wielding their status and influence. Even within a particular scientific team there will be schisms that cannot be resolved through reasoning or common sense.

Fact 5:

All human behavior is based upon the hardware of the brain.

Although I have to praise the ambition of the Zeitgeist movement to reform the human culture into a more humane and peaceful one, and while this also might be possible to a large extent, there are certain things that needs to be taken into consideration.

The human mind is a biological computer, and as a such it has to comply with some of the laws of nature. In this way it is possible to understand that it might be impossible to in a 100% determine the state of a human mind through external impression.

For example, all of what a human knows and beliefs is determined by the current state of the human mind. But like we all know, all system has an initial state. An initial settings of all its internal components make up its initial state. In the context of artificiall intelligence, scientists like to say ”it is impossible to learn anything if you do not know anything”. This points to the fact that any knowledge or opinion of a human beeing, needs to be based on initial assumptions and oppinions.

So while the behavior of human to a large extent might be a result of environment. Maybe 50%, 70% or even 99%. It might be physically impossible for the human behavior to be 100% dependent on its environment. The hardware of the brain will always remain a factor.

Any society has to take this fact into consideration. While we might be able to reform culture to a large extent, there might be limitations to this. Things that cannot change, or is hard to change.

Fact 6:

Situations could occur that makes human labor necessary.

For example, right now we are running out of oil, and there is a dire need to find alternative power sources. If we do not find alternative resources in time, we might have to replace a large amount of work performed by machines, with work performed by humans. For example if the lack of oil makes it necessary to re-establish a less industrialized agriculture, at least until we have found other power supplies.

So while it is desirable with a society of abundance with no need for human labor, it might be dangerous to create a society that is dependent on this to function. So, for a society to be resilient, it needs some method by which to distribute labor in a fair and efficient way when required.

Fact 7:

If a small group of people hold too much power, there is allays a risk of corruption.

Taken the human history, this should be pretty self evident. But I will nonetheless make a more thorough argument for this important fact.

As stated by previous facts, a certain amount of power will be given to the architects of any automated production system. If we at the same time consider that it might be impossible for a complete reform of the culture, removing all selfish or narcissistic traits from every individual, we are always in danger of corruption on the highest level of society.

Fact 8:

Even if there is no money, there will by definition still be currencies and trade.

A currency is defined as anything humans put value in, and as long as humans put value in their life, there will be currencies of various kinds. Trade is whenever human exchange items or services of value, and as long as humans interact in any meaningful way, there will be trade. Humans can of course interact without trade, but it would be difficult to prohibit trade of any kind taking place.

For example, if a person invites a friend for a cup of tea, they both exchange each others friendly company, in what could be described as a trade taking place. Psychologists such as Dr. Phil talks about currencies of a relationship, such as a marriage, and that there needs to be a balance. No one likes a selfish person who uses other person as servants.

So the argument is that the occurance of currency and trade is to a large degree a question of definiton.

When realizing this, we should note that the goal of a resource based economy should not be to eliminate the occurance of trade and currencies. This might not be neccessary in order to create a far better society than the current.

Fact 9:

”Abundance” is a concept without boundaries

While it is true that the human body requires a certain amount of resources in order to live, satisfying those needs is only the first step for a society. The Venus project aims at creating a society of abundance, where more spiritual needs of the curious human mind is satisfied.

However, as we all are aware of, there is really no limit to the human curiosity, and hence there is also no limit to how many resources a human could want to use, even in an abundant society. If for example, all people on earth wants to visit space once in their lifetime, there might simply not be enough energy and resources on this planet to make this happen, taking into account the rather resource demanding venture of going to space.

What this means in practice, is that a society will allays need a system for rationing resources, even if they are ”abundant”. Moreover, because of differences in personal opinions, there might be a need for a system where resources of one kind, can be traded for resources of another kind. For example, one person might want to visit space once in his or her lifetime, while another person might want to live a life nearby a nice a beach where it is possible to go surfing.

This indicates that a natural resource based economy needs a currency system that correspond to the utilization of earths natural resources.

Fact 10:

Centralized planning and increased efficiency in general decreases resilience.

It can be proven that for any given energy transformation system, there is always trade off between energy efficiency and resiliance. This has been proven by researchers studying eco-systems (as quoted by Bernad A Liater). For example, if a society has one single automated production system that optimizes energy usage throughout the whole world using effective but centralized mass production, the system as a whole might become vulnerable if one single component of the system fails due to some unforeseen reason. In order to increase efficiency, redundancy is generally eliminated, but in order to increase resiliency, redundancy is generally required. And moreover, the balance between the two cannot be calculated by some general law, and is in general a matter of opinion.

While advocates of the Venusproject has mentioned redundancy when it comes to machines, such as airplanes with redundant landing gears to improve safety etc, it is also important to note that the same reasoning should apply on the top most level of society as well. Especially if we consider previously stated facts that shows that there can be no perfect automated production system because of inadequate computational resources. If one automated production system falls victim to corruption of its architects, is based on inaccurate assumptions or simply fails because of natural disaster, other production system should stand ready to take over parts of its function.

An alternative direction for the Zeitgeist movement

So, my argument is that the Venus project as currently presented does not take these ten facts into full consideration, making it slightly flawed. Especially when it comes to the inherent problems of computational complexity that limits the possibilities of building an automated production system that fully meets the expectations of the Zeitgeist community. No doubt we could create a pretty good system, but not a perfect, unbiased or neutral one. So, taking all these facts into consideration, I would like to present an alternative way to organize a resource based economy.

Even though some might perceive my suggestions as blasphemous to the Zeitgeist movement, I have to insist that I do this out of deepest respect for the Venus Project, trying to achieve the same thing as the Venus Project, but using a fundamentally different method.

The solution part 1: Natural resource sharing – the female currency

Instead of the industrialized and centralized version of the natural resource based economy as presented by the Venus project, I would propose an organic and diversified version of the resource based economy. The reason why nature works by evolution, as opposed to one single ”brain organism”, has both do with the problems of computational complexity, and the Eco-systems inherent need for resilience through diversification.

But in order to diversify the structure of society, it becomes necessary to empower the cells of society, namely the people. This is the only way by which we can deal with corruption in the higher levels of society, be it a democracy, a corporatocracy or an automated production system built out of the best intentions, but still subject to the laws of computational complexity.

The method to empower the people is to give each and every individual the value of his or her share out of earths natural resources. This still means that the earths natural resources are owned and safe-guarded collectively for future generations, but the value of it is shared. This is what I call natural resource sharing, in a similar spirit to file sharing.

The value of each share lies in a promise of access to natural resources. Thus, natural resource sharing means creating a true owner out of each and every human. Even if humans cooperate and create vast systems of production, every human should always have the possibility to break free from the community.

This means that we in effect allow a certain degree of free market, as every person has the right to do whatever he or she likes with his or her value-share of earths natural resources. The share in effect becomes a tradable currency, and therefore a kind of money. The share can be used directly for homesteading. It can be used for trading in a local community, or given as an entrance fee to a larger community that utilizes some kind of automated production systems, and in return delivers commodities to its habitants. The society envisioned by the Venus Project could emerge from this system, but the participation of each individual is completely voluntary.

But even if we allow trade and the special natural resource currency, it is still a system far from todays capitalistic society. Since all people on earth gets an equal share of this natural resource currency, the participation in a competitive market is always voluntary, just as is participation in any non-competitive collective. Individual homesteading and the organization of local communities is always an option with this this system of natural resource sharing, as individuals always can get direct access to their share of natural resources.

As a side note I would like to express that market economy is to some degree misunderstood. The purpose of trade and currencies does not primarily has to be the increased efficiency of a society, as energy and labor efficiency typically rely on centralization and monopolization. But the purpose of a free market could under the right circumstances be the opposite, namely to enhance resilience through diversification. It all depends on the tendency of the market towards either monopolization or diversification. The natural resource currency system will automatically gravitate towards diversification and away from monopolization. This is because wealth is continuously distributed to each and every individual through a basic income system based on natural resource currency.

If nothing else, I believe natural resource sharing is important for the same philosophical reasons that The Architect discovered in the movie Matrix. Human beings desire freedom by nature. If they exist in a system, even a well ordered and rich system of abundance, they would rebel unless there is a choice to either exit or stay in the system. Natural resource currency and the right of each individual to access natural resources directly instead of through a collective, is just such a possibility that is necessary for the human spirit to be at peace.

As a currency, natural resource shares suffer none of the failures that our present currency system has. There is no interest, and there is no devaluation of the currency possible as a result of financial games. The currency is distributed directly to individuals and not created by institutions, avoiding unfair expansion of the currency. Since the basis of the currency is earths natural resources that are common heritage, every new generation gets their own share of natural resources, and because of this it is impossible for the currency to become monopolized over time.

The solution part 2: Individual monetization of future freedom – the male currency

There are more things we could do to increase the resilience of a society. This part of the solution might be less important than the first and probably appears more controversial to members of the Zeitgeist community. But under certain circumstances it could prove valuable. It is a way to provide diversification of the natural resource currency system itself, if that system shouldn’t operate well for some circumstance.

If in some future, there need of natural resources decline at the same time as there is an increased need for human labor for some reason, then the value of natural resource currency would decline making it more difficult for society to operate. For this situation it is important to have a currency system in which human labor could be traded more directly. In order to provide for this situation, society should provide a system that allows people to monetize their future time in an interest free debt system.

This provides a kind of Yin/Yang balance to the currency system. If the natural resource currency is given for free to all human beings, the time currency is a promise of future effort. This is how it works.

All human beings can monetize the projected time left until their death. For example, if a person at the age of 20 is expected to live 80 years, it means a timespan of 60 years to monetize, or 512 640 hours. What is important is that the decision to monetize this time is individual, meaning, no other person can monetize it, and it is a completely personal decision. A person could choose to just use his natural resource currency assets, and ignore this possibility and the dangers it might involve.

In practice, all humans has a credit account from witch it is just possible to withdraw time currency. A person can use this time currency to pay for services or products provided by other people, while at the same time giving a promise of future effort. That person has now become in debt to the collective in general, and in particular the holders of the time currency.

Since it might be impossible to measure an effort made, let alone force anyone to make an effort on a particular task, effort has to be traded against plain time consumption. Most persons put some value of their free time, so what is essentially monetized is your future freedom to use your time for your own benefit.

So, whenever there is a debt that needs to be balanced in the system. The services of the person in question is put out for sale on a labor market. If no one wants to hire the person in question, nothing happens and the debt is allowed to remain unchanged. The balancing of the debt will only occur on an explicit request from society, so the system itself is not imposing the cancellation of debt.

However, if there is a demand for hiering that person for a price that exceeds 1 time credit per worked hour, the indebted person either has to take a job in order to pay his debt, or get a certain detention punishment. The detention punishment is measured in 1 hour per time credit owed to the system.

The detention punishment could for example be to spend hours in a detention center with limited choice of activities. Having restrictions imposed upon Internet usage for a certain time, or even come in a more social form where detainees has to publicly announce their indebtedness and refusal to work. The detention could be harsh, or it could be set up to hardly be considered a punishment at all. It all depends on the current need for human labor in society.

The detention punishment in effect sets a standard for what labor effort can be expected out of time credits. If the job market pay too little for too demanding jobs, people would rather receive a longer detention punishment than to make the required efforts in order to get payed more and become debt free faster. A more harsh or boring detention punishment, will in effect make people take more demanding jobs.

Whatever the detention punishment is, a person needs to be fully informed of what it is before withdrawing any time credits from his or her time credit account. If a person finds the detention punishment too harsh, they should be advised not to monetize their future time, and instead rely on their natural resource share. Once time credit has been withdrawn, the detention regulations cannot change for that particular credit.

But I would again like to stress that time currency is a complementary system to the natural resource currency. It is the Yin out of Yin and Yang. If for anything, this system could be used as a social game meant to amuse the public and allow them to exchange services for social reasons. It is noteworthy that this has already been put to the test. In London a time currency system is used to allow inhabitants meet and engage in social activities, such as helping each other out with cleaning the house or home decoration.

Only if there is a dire need for human labor for the society to survive, should the detention punishment become harsh. For a prosperous society, the detention punishment should hardly be a punishment at all.

We can also note that time credits suffer none of the failures that our current currency system has. There is no interest, and there is no devaluation of the currency possible due to financial games. The monetization is performed by individuals and not institutions, avoiding unfair expansion of the monetary base. Since the basis of the currency is human life, every new generation comes with their own credit accounts, and because of this it is impossible for the currency to become monopolized over time.

The solution part 3: Hybrid direct democracy – enhanced communication

The third part of the solution involves the handling of various opinions in society. While we admit that majority voting is the least desirable if there are others methods to resolve an issue, we still have to face the possibility that some differences in opinion might not be so easy to resolve. For example, the administration and safeguarding of earths natural resources, the organization of the labor market used for debt balancing in the time currency system or the organization of the detention system. Or like we noted previously, democracy could simply be needed when deciding the color of the public library.

At the same time we should recognize that our current democratic system is fundamentally broken. The reason has simply to do with combinatorics and again, exponential arithmetics. If a person holds a number of opinions, and wish to express those opinions through the democratic system. The number of political parties potentially required grows exponentially whit the number of opinions. This is because every political party or organization represents a fixes set of opinions.

In short, the political system today offers the same kind of ”free choice” as a fast food restaurant, offering a small set of prepackaged food. The solution is found in the grocery store, where every person can choose directly from hundreds of ingredients, and compose his or her own food. At the same time as a customer of a grocery store has exponentially more freedom of choice, we can note that the grocery store also sell prefabricated food for the convenience of those who want to buy it.

So, the solution is simply a hybrid system. Where people can allow representatives to use their voting power, as long as they themselves do not vote. It would even be possible to select different representatives having different priority, or assigned to different categories of questions. This is the true essence of democracy.

But we should also recognize that democracy is foremost not a system for voting, but a system for communication. Democracy in itself is a system of communication where the masses of the people can arrive at decisions in an orderly and fair way based upon the varying opinion of the public. And if we recognize that the role of democracy just as such, there is a whole new universe of possibilities to explore. If democracy is a method of communication, we can find ways to enhance the vocabulary of the language being used, for the benefit of all.

For example, communication through only ”yes” and ”no” answers might be cumbersome, so if the community needs to decide on a number. For example deciding on the number of days a certain festival should prolong. Each person could for example state a number directly, and the democratic system automatically calculates the median average value out of all opinions expressed. The median average corresponds to the biggest number that would get 50% support, and the smallest number that would get 50% support, and thus, a perfect compromise.

Another example is that priorities between a number of items could be given directly by the people, and using certain schemes for ”run of voting”, a common list of priorities could be assembled. This will eliminate the need for voting tactics that is commonly seen in todays election common in most countries, where people do not vote for the most preferred choice, simply because they think they have no chance of winning anyway, which in turn creates a self fulfilling prophecy. If every voter could submit their entire list of preferences to the voting system, this problem would not occur.

A third example has to do with time. Even when voting ”yes” or ”no” on a certain issue, timing could be of importance. We do not want a system where one single person could decide on when a certain decision could be made though majority voting, as there is a risk of decisions being bade due to public confusion, unawareness or neglect, rather than public opinion. Therefore it is desirable not to set a certain date when a decision will be made through voting, but instead, let the date of decision depend on the voting activity and balance between supporters and opposers. This can be done through the method of continuous voting.

The procedure is a bit technical, but could be described metaphorically by an hot air balloon standing on the ground representing a proposition. Each person can put a small weight on the balloon to create down-force, or nudge the burner slightly to create an equal amount of lift. Thus, the lifting speed of the balloon depend on both the voting activity and the balance between supporters and opposers of the proposition. A proposition results in a positive decision when the balloon reaches a certain fixed altitude. Strong disagreement or lack of activity gives more time for consideration until a decision is being made.

All in all, the model of continuous voting gives the public a better overview of which propositions could turn into decisions in the near future and therefore require public attention, and it also works as a spam filter as propositions of inadequate quality could be kept ”firmly on the ground” without requiring the attention of the wider public.

In any case, direct democracy is an imperative of direct communication. As the communication of society becomes more direct, through blogs, Facebook groups and messaging systems, democracy in itself will have to evolve. Because for example, isn’t a Facebook group a primitive form of Internet voting?

The Duality Project

The three parts together of the solution presented here, form what I call The Duality Project. The Duality Project stands for natural resources and human labor, organized trough a collaborative communication system. The Duality Project constitutes an outer framework of freedom and equality, in which humans may organize their society in a number of ways.

The Duality Project is to be seen as an alternative to the Venus project, yet it includes important aspects of the Venus Project, such as the view of earth as a common heritage creating a base for a basic income, and the abolishment of a monopolized monetary system which enslaves the population. It is my hope that the Duality Project could serve as a source of inspiration to all people that today put their faith in the Venus Project.

As indicated by its name, the Venus project represents the female aspect of society, meaning collectivism, unification and equality. And if our current society represent the Mars aspect of societies, with individualism, diversification and inequality. The Duality Project aims to strike a balance between the two, aiming at combining the best of two worlds, utilizing diversification for the sake of resilience, and equality for the sake of efficiency. This is the duality.

If nothing else, the Duality Project could be seen as a bridge between todays society, and the society envisioned by the Venus Project. Salvaging certain features from today’s failed society, The Duality Project could help pave the way for a smooth transition.

Outlook

Even though the Duality Project as presented here is unique, fragments of similar ideas can be seen in our current reality.

The idea of collective land ownership dates back to Thomas Paine and Henry George and his one tax movement. The idea of combining a free market with collective land ownership is also sometimes described as geolibertarianism. Although the name indicates a free market system related to our current capitalistic system, the geolibertarian movement is an odd bird, equally despised by classical libertarians and socialist alike. In present day, The Renegade Economist on the Internet is a strong promoter of land tax instead of labor tax, catching one essential idea behind natural resource sharing. There are also several movements for basic income, especially in Europe where the idea of socialist state elements in a mixed economy has gradually transformed into a desire for both equality and freedom at the same time.

About time currency, several communities for alternative currencies are experimenting with similar ideas. Usually called ”lets-system”, however such system usually does not include the idea of detention punishment and a way of balancing off the debt if demanded. This is in my opinions important elements if we would like to introduce such a system on a larger scale for more serious purposes, and as mentioned, the regulations of detention will indirectly set a labor standard for the currency.

The idea of dual currency systems has sometimes been described by Bernad A Liater, even though I use this term slightly different from Liater. Liater argues that a dual currency system increases the stability of society, as one currency is created out of need, and the other out of scarcity. However, it could be argued, that according to Liaters definitions that both natural resource shares and time currency are female currencies, since they both are created out of need, rather than created out of scarcity. However, because of the potentially destructive debt associated with time currency, I consider it to be more of a male currency.

The Duality Projects ideas about hybrid direct democracy are taken from a grass roots party in Sweden called Aktiv Demokrati (Active Democracy). But there are several other such organizations all over the world that promote hybrid direct democracy.

I am a person very much interested in improving society, both organization wise and technologically. You can visit my blog and read about some of my projects. I am for example designing a new kind of wind turbine on my spare time. A ”soft blade design”, intended to enable huge scale turbines, as soft structures and cables are more easy to deal with compared to rigid structures. Vi har tidigare pratat om hur det politiska etablissemanget fokuserar på skatt på arbete, vilket gynnar de redan rika. Vi har också pratat om marknadens inneboende krafter som också gynnar de kapitalstarka. Den här gången ska vi betrakta kronan på verket i detta system, vars enda syfte är att ta pengar från de fattiga, nämligen banksystemen.

Ni har säkert hört det berättas om förut. Det börjar bli ett av de mest envisa diskussionsämnena på internet. Det handlar om våra pengar och vem som kontrollerar dem. För om pengar ger makt, så måste man fråga sig vem som har rätten att skapa pengar i ett samhälle. Men vi börjar med att betrakta hur bankerna rent konkret tar pengar ifrån de fattiga.

Det börjar med räntorna. Alla som har ett bolån vet vad jag pratar om, nämligen de räntor man betalar till banken varje månad. Som vi alla vet, så är det också de fattiga människorna som i högre grad tvingas skuldsätta sig vid större investeringar som husköp och de får på detta sätt betala en högre kostnad genom räntorna. För att ta ett annat exempel, om man köper en TV på avbetalning så blir det totala beloppet man betalar större än om man köpt den kontant.

Ett annat mer indirekt sätt genom vilket banksystemet tar pengar ifrån fattiga, är genom inflationen. Medierna brukar ibland beskriva inflation som när priser på varor och tjänster går upp, men detta är inte hela sanningen. Inflation uppstår när det skapas nya pengar genom bankernas utlåning, varför de pengar som redan finns i systemet blir mindre värda. Detta orsakar ibland konsumentprisinflation, vilket kan ställa till det för löntagare som ser värdet av sin lön urvattnas. Att inte få löneförhöjning innebär i praktiken en lönesänkning tack vare detta, så det som kallas för ”löneförhöjning” handlar ofta bara om att löntagaren bibehåller sin nuvarande lön.

Men viktigast är att priset på alla fasta egendomar stiger för att ”suga upp” allt kapital. De som redan äger fasta tillgångar, vilket ofta är de rika, ser sina tillgångar skjuta i höjden. Många har idag uppfattningen om att de högavlönade betalar progressiv skatt, och att samhället genom detta omfördelar pengar från de rika, till de fattiga. Men som Michael Hudson vid tankesmedjan TheRenegadeEconomist på YouTube påpekar så får de rika tillbaka allt de betalat extra i skatt när deras bostäder stiger i värde. Den progressiva skatten är alltså en bluff.

Någon som försökt att bilda sig en helhetsuppfattning om hur räntorna tar pengar från fattiga, och ger till rika är den tyska ekonomen Margrit Kennedy som skrivit boken ”Pengar utan ränta och inflation”. Hon vill betona det faktum att fattiga och medelinkomsttagare i regel betalar mycket mer i räntor än vad de är medvetna om. När vi köper varor och tjänster, så finns det ofta en dold ränta som är pålagd på priset. Hennes beräkningar visar att människor i genomsnitt betalar 45 % av sin lön till räntor och dolda räntor. Bara den rikaste gruppen på 10 % får istället tillbaka mer än vad de ger via räntor.

Man skulle kunna tolka detta som en del av den vanliga ansamlingen av rikedom som vi pratade om i förra artikeln, och onekligen finns det stora likheter. Men det finns en sak som gör just bankerna, inflationen och deras räntor speciella. För det är nämligen så att bankerna inte tjänar pengar på grund av att de från början har mycket pengar. Banker kan förvisso ha pengar, intet tal om det, men det är inte det som är avgörande. Banker kan nämligen tjäna pengar på grund av att de kan skapa nya pengar och sedan låna ut dessa till ränta. För det är nämligen så, att pengar som lånas från banken inte fanns från början, utan de skapas i samma stund som låntagaren skriver på avtalet. Det är bara en siffra i en dator. Det finns en ständigt aktuell film som berättar hela historien bakom detta, nämligen den animerade filmen ”pengar som skuld”, som förklarar detta närmast magiska trick:

Michael Delavante har i en lång artikelserie här på Sourze redogjort för hur den internationella bankeliten alltid arbetat för att ta makten över världen. Genom att ständigt sätta press på regeringar och nationer, har de försökt ta makten över pengarna på detta sätt. Här på hemmaplan i Sverige har vi vår alldeles egen historia. I all tysthet beslutade en liten grupp att ta bort lånetaket, en novemberdag 1990. Detta gav bankerna helt fritt spelrum i skapandet av nya pengar. Dokumentären ”Novemberrevolutionen”av Dan Josefssons beskriver denna ofta förglömda del av Sveriges historia som kanske är en av våra viktigaste händelser i modern tid. Värt att notera, är att efter lånetaket togs bort, har Sverige plågats av ständigt återkommande finanskriser och spekulationsbubblor, och de flesta av oss blir allt fattigare. Men detta betraktas som okej, eftersom de rika tack vare detta kan lyckas ta ännu mer pengar av de fattiga.

Så om du inte är knäckt av skatterna på ditt arbete, eller de rikas övertag på marknaden, så är det till sist räntorna som kommer att knäcka dig, och som kommer att få dig att springa allt snabbare i ekorrhjulet.

Av det som du som vanlig löntagare borde ha fått i lön, kommer det bara att återstå en liten bråkdel när alla dessa system tagit sitt. Vi kan grovt gissa att det återstår 90 % efter att den allmänna rikedomskondenseringen haft sin inverkan. Efter skatten återstår då sedan 40 %, och efter räntorna har tagit sitt, så återstår i runda slängar 22 %. Detta är förvisso en grov överslagsräkning, där rikedomskondensationen till viss del kan vara svår att skilja från räntornas inverkan, men det ger kanske ändå en fingervisning om vilka belopp det rör sig om.

Trots effektivare maskiner och strålande framsteg vad gäller planering och organisation, så blir tillvaron ändå allt mer pressad. Vi tvingas i allt högre grad bort ifrån hemmet för att arbeta. En gång i tiden kunde det räcka om ena föräldern arbetade. Idag krävs i regel att båda arbetar, vilket gör det nödvändigt för föräldrar lämnar bort sina barn på institution för att hinna med. Här har du förklaringen till varför det förhåller sig så. Det är nämligen bara ungefär en dag i veckan som du arbetar åt dig själv, övrig tid arbetar du åt dina ägare. Slavar har gjort uppror för mindre.

Så vad kan man göra åt detta? Vi har redan tidigare konstaterat att det politiska etablissemanget står handfallna inför de problem som dagens fattiga ställs inför. Deras förlegade principer och tron på den så kallade ”arbetslinjen” som vi diskuterade i första delen gör det omöjligt för dem att lösa problemen. Vad gäller banksystemet så vill politikerna inte ens erkänna att det är ett problem, utan ägnar sig åt att lindra symptom, och stoppa huvudet i sanden.

Kanske är det ändå i Frankrike som gnistan till revolution håller på att tändas för andra gången i världshistorien. De arbetslösa unga och de fattiga accepterar inte längre kraven som de internationella bankerna ställer på landet. När pensionsåldern skulle höjas, så tog en halv miljon unga fransmän till gatorna i protest mot bristen på jobb detta skulle medföra. Men det är ändå inte denna gnista som jag syftar på. Bankmännen är nämligen inte rädda för några brända bilar. Konflikter och förstörelse är vanligtvis något som bankmännen tjänar på. Det finns inte längre någon bastilj att storma, eller någon tydlig adel att föra till giljotinen. Fienden är den här gången diffus, undanglidande och odefinierbar. Inte ens en halv miljon franska revolutionärer kan hitta den.

Men kanske har de franska revolutionärerna ändå kommit på någonting som skulle kunna skaka makten i grundvalarna. För någon vecka sedan hittade jag en fransk aktionsgrupp på Facebook som hade börjat organisera en så kallad ”uttagsanstormning”. Det vill säga ta ut alla pengar från banken. För det är nämligen så att bankernas makt att skapa pengar, samtidigt ger dem en svaghet. Eftersom bankerna får låna ut mycket mer pengar än de i själva verket har, så betyder det att bankerna allt som oftast inte har så mycket pengar alls i bankvalvet. Om många människor därför plötsligt skulle ta ut sina besparingar, så kan en bank i princip gå i konkurs över en natt. I alla fall tvingar det banken att stänga, vilket i sin tur skapar problem i finansvärlden. I normala fall så är uttagsanstormningar en olycklig konsekvens av dåliga ekonomiska tider. Något som ingen önskar sig. Men vad de franska revolutionärerna har kommit på, är att man kan göra detta organiserat. Medvetet, med den fulla intentionen att krascha banksystemet.

Den 7 december i år så kommer över 7 000 fransmän att ta ut alla sina pengar från banken. Men om det inte skulle bli tillräckligt destruktivt, så planeras en internationell uttagsanstormning den 11 maj 2011.

Undertecknad har här ett förslag. Varför inte göra den 11 maj till ”den internationella dagen för uttagsanstormning”? En årlig återkommande protest då vi ser efter hur mycket pengar bankerna egentligen har i sina kassavalv. En dag då vi alla tar ut våra pengar. Antingen som kontanter eller genom att flytta dem till mindre och räntefria medlemsbanker som till exempel JAK. Kommer den 11 maj vara den dag då vi knäcker det internationella banksystemet?

Nu har jag i alla fall berättat om hur felkonstruerade skatter tar pengar från fattiga, hur de rika tar pengar från fattiga genom deras övertag på marknaden och hur bankernas system med räntor också bidrar till att ta ännu mer pengar från fattiga. Nu är det upp till dig att avgöra vad du vill göra med den här informationen. Antingen gör du ingenting, eller så hjälper du till i kampen för frihet.

I förra delen av den här artikelserien pratade vi om hur både det politiska höger- och vänsteralternativet verkar för att ta pengar ifrån de fattiga genom förkrossande hög skatt på arbete, samtidigt som skatten på kapital är blygsam.

Men marknaden självt bidrar också till att pengar tas ifrån de fattiga och ansamlas hos de rika. Att rikedomen lättare samlas hos de som redan har pengar är egentligen bara en gammal sanning Karl Marx diskuterade. Men eftersom Karl Marx var kommunist, så måste ju allt han sagt vara fel, eller? Detta tycks i alla fall vara den rådande uppfattningen, då det idag inte längre pratas så mycket om detta. Det handlar om att tjäna pengar på att äga pengar, snarare än att arbeta och den som inte har några pengar, blir lätt förlorare. Detta sker på flera sätt. Det finns många sätt som fattiga tvingas betala mer för samma produkt eller tjänst, varför de blir ännu fattigare. Det enklaste exemplet på detta är att fattiga ofta har en högre månadskostnad för sitt boende, beroende på att de ofta bor i hyresrätt.

Jag har personlig erfarenhet av detta. När jag själv flyttade till en bostadsrätt för ungefär ett år sedan, lyckades vi sänka våra månadskostnader med ungefär två tusen per månad, samtidigt som hyresvärden i det bostadsområde vi flyttade från ständigt pressade på med ökade hyror. Investeringsbolag som investerar i hyresrätter skryter över hur lättförtjänta pengar de tjänar[http://www.fastighetsinvestering.nu/], och tidningarna skriver om ockerhyror, speciellt i storstadsregionerna. Hög avkastning till låg risk, jo jag tackar jag, det är lätt att ta från de redan fattiga på detta sätt.

Men det kanske mest slående sätt som fattiga människor förlorar pengar på handlar om vårt arbete, om vem det är som äger våra arbetsredskap och om hur vårt arbete organiseras. Om man åker runt i Sverige i dag och besöker en godtycklig medelstor till stor stad, finns säkerligen ett stort och nybyggt köpcentrum en bit ifrån stadskärnan. I detta köpcentrum finns en rad olika butiker, men vilken stad man än besöker, så är det alltid samma butikskedjor som finns representerade. Vad som kan se ut som en liten butik som till exempel säljer smycken, är i själva verket oftast en del av en gigantisk butikskedja som omsätter hundratals miljoner i hela Sverige. Detta ger också en ganska bra bild av hur konkurrenssituationen ser ut. Det finns nämligen oftast inte så många små företag, utan merparten av marknaden tas upp av bjässarna. Av Sveriges riktigt stora företag så är det knappt något som är speciellt ungt.

Om du som egenföretagare vill börja konkurrera med de stora butikskedjorna, är det i många fall en oerhört svår uppgift. De stora butikskedjorna har ofta stora rabatter hos sina underleverantörer och får bara genom sin storlek avsevärda stordriftsfördelar. Om du som enskild företagare ska försöka kämpa mot dessa, har du redan från början många hinder att ta dig över. Den förkrossande arbetsskatt som vi talade om i förra delen spelar även här en central roll i att försvåra för nya företag på marknaden. Att hinna uppnå lönsamhet innan startkapitalet och bankkrediten tagit slut kan därför bli en svår kamp mot klockan. Utöver detta, är alla trygghetssystem, som till exempel sjukförsäkringssystemet, skapade för människor som är anställda, inte för den som är egenföretagare.

Så det mest troliga är att de fattiga tvingas söka jobb på något redan befintligt företag. Eftersom det råder i det närmaste en kronisk och hög arbetslöshet i detta land, kan man vara tryggt förvissad om att arbetsgivarna kommer att lyckas mycket bra med att pressa ner de anställdas löner. Fackföreningarna representerar en allt mer tynande tillvaro och arbetsgivarna blir allt fräckare i att utnyttja bemanningsföretag för att kringgå tidigare lagar och regler vad gäller anställningstrygghet.

Det är egentligen värre än så; tack vare att det finns så många arbetslösa, kan fackföreningarna endast vinna rättvisa på bekostnad av de arbetslösa, som får det ännu svårare att få in en fot på arbetsmarknaden. Ännu en gång har kapitalet lyckats ställa de fattiga mot de ännu fattigare – söndra och härska.

Vissa rapporter visar förvisso på att reallönerna har ökat, men dessa rapporter utgår ofta från konsumentprisindex vilket gör att de, till exempel, bortser ifrån den kraftiga ökningen i boendekostnader som skett, vilket leder oss tillbaka till den första punkten vi pratade om, nämligen hyrorna och räntorna. Rädslan som sprider sig på arbetsmarknaden gör det allt svårare för människor att kräva skäliga löner. Det spelar alltså inte någon roll om du är duktig på vad du gör, din arbetsgivare kommer säkert ändå lägga beslag på den största delen av den vinst du bidragit till.

Men även om man kan häpna åt de miljardbonusar och megalöner som delas ut i storföretagens toppskikt, är det ändå inte där som samhällets ägarklass finns. Direktörerna är bara kapitalets lakejer som är utsända att göra dess smutsiga jobb och dessa ger bara en föraning om de riktiga kapitalägarnas ställning i samhället. Mitt under förra finanskrisen då flera stora företag, som till exempel Elektrolux med flera, sparkade tusentals anställda, beslöt många företagsstyrelser om att öka aktieutdelningen till aktieägarna. Aktieägarna gavs en julklapp, medan de anställda fick sparken. I slutändan är det nämligen kapitalägarna som har sista ordet – verka utan att synas.

Men vad vi får lära oss av marknadsliberala förespråkare är att detta grymma utslagningsspel trots allt gynnar de som är ”smarta”, vilket skapar ett så kallat ”intelligentare kapital” som söker sig till bra investeringar. Men det går dessvärre att bevisa rent matematiskt att så inte behöver vara fallet. De franska fysikerna Jean-Philippe Bouchaud och Marc Mézard studerade just detta samband och hittade en lösning på ekvationen. Även om man antog att investeringars utfall skedde rent slumpmässigt, utan någon intelligens inblandad alls, så kan man bevisa att kapitalansamlingen ändå sker. Kapitalet söker sig till annat kapital, som magneter till varandra, och detta har vare sig med rättvisa eller smarthet att göra. Så, i kraft av dessa matematiska och därför eviga sanningar, kanske vi också måste tillstå att Karl Marx nog ändå hade en poäng: kommunister kan tydligen ha rätt ibland de också.

Men allt detta är ingenting man kan göra någonting åt om man frågar det politiska etablissemanget. Att ge alla människor ett rättvist utgångsläge i livet och minska deras beroende av storföretag och kapitalägare, till exempel genom medborgarlön finansierad med kapitalskatt, är i det rådande politiska klimatet närmast otänkbart. Arbetslinjen måste under alla omständigheter vidmakthållas för att storkapitalet ska få sin billiga arbetskraft som det anser sig behöva. Arbetsdisciplinen måste vidmakthållas. Du och ditt liv betraktas inte som viktigt i sammanhanget.

Vi har tidigare sett hur politikernas skatter på arbete tar pengar ifrån de redan fattiga, för att ge till de ännu fattigare. De rika tar sedan ytterligare pengar ifrån de fattiga genom marknadens allmänna beskaffenhet och fackföreningarna lyckas bara skapa motsättningar mellan de fattiga arbetande och de ännu fattigare människorna i utanförskap.

Skatten på arbete har ingen annan funktion än att ta pengar ifrån redan fattiga – och ge till de som är ännu fattigare. Men hur vore det att beskatta de rika?

Jag är inte socialdemokrat, men i dessa tider är det svårt att inte tycka synd om dem. Utan att överdriva så kan man säga att det inte gick särskilt bra för Socialdemokraterna och det rödgröna blocket i valet. För första gången på decennier sitter en högerregering kvar i fler än en mandatperiod och till på köpet så har många av Socialdemokraternas tidigare väljare övergett dem till förmån till Sverigedemokraterna. Hur kunde det gå på det här sättet? Hur kunde väljarna överge det parti som en gång i tiden stod som garant för folkhemmet?

Efter år av socialdemokratiskt styre tidigare inser nog de flesta att Sverige går i en viss riktning, alldeles oavsett om det är en röd eller en blå regering som sitter vid makten. Människor känner detta i luften och på hur samhället ständigt blir lite fattigare och lite kallare. Det är som att vi alla sitter på ett skenande tåg och vi kan försöka bromsa utvecklingen, men inte stoppa den helt. Det är samhällets svaga som känner av detta och som nu har börjat leta efter nya alternativ.

Skälet är att socialdemokraterna tillsammans med sitt högeralternativ har en gemensam idé. De gillar nämligen båda att ta pengar ifrån de fattiga, och ge till andra fattiga, samtidigt som inget av partierna vågar beskatta de riktigt rika, på riktigt. Rikedomsklyftorna har under det senaste decenniet ökat markant och det finns snart ingen poäng med att hålla reda på vilket block som gjort sig mest skyldigt detta.

För detta är nämligen konsekvensen av den höga skatten på arbete som vi har i det här landet. Någon skulle kanske kunna inbilla sig att skatten på arbete i någon högre grad skulle kunna hjälpa till att minska klyftorna i samhället, men ni vet väl till exempel att de allra rikaste inte arbetar? De rikaste människorna håvar in avkastningen på sitt kapital och behöver inte röra ett finger. Och kapitalskatten är som bekant ungefär hälften av vad skatten på arbete är och den är dessutom inte ens progressiv. Förmögenhetsskatten är sedan år tillbaka avskaffad.

Så Socialdemokraternas politiska modell bygger alltså på att beskatta fattiga och ge till de som är ännu fattigare. Det kanske inte är så konstigt då om samhällets mest utsatta blir desperata och börjar dras till nationalismen och de enkla lösningarna. De redan fattiga har börjat vägra ge pengar till ännu fattigare, till exempel flyktingar, och etablissemangets fadda moralism låter inte vänta på sig.

Detta är också orsaken till varför till exempel Moderaterna har kunnat närma sig Socialdemokraterna i så pass hög grad, att de till och med kan kalla sig för ”Det nya arbetarpartiet”. För Moderaternas del spelar det inte så stor roll om man beskattar arbetarna eller ej, och tar de fattigas pengar för att ge till ännu fattigare. Deras rika kapitalstarka sponsorer får nämligen sin utdelning i alla fall, men arbetarrörelsen har skjutit sig själv i foten genom hög skatt på arbete och kapitalisterna skrattar skadeglatt och hjälper gärna till med illdådet.

Det enda som arbetsskatten gör är egentligen att fungera som hinder för människor som vill kunna leva sina liv i frihet. I länder som Kina, där skatten på arbete i princip är obefintlig, kan arbetslösa människor alltid ägna sig åt försäljning av varor och tjänster i billiga lokaler eller direkt på gatan, vilket faktiskt kan ge upphov till en ganska rimlig levnadsstandard. Jag har bekanta i Kina, så jag vet. I Sverige tvingas arbetslösa leva i statligt förmynderi, med en socialtjänst som läser dina kvitton och i vissa fall till och med kräver att få gå in i din bostad och inspektera. För människor i utanförskap liknar Sverige allt mer ett fångläger.

Men varför kan man då helt enkelt inte styra om skatten, så att den på allvar riktar in sig på att minska klyftorna i samhället? Varför måste man beskatta fattiga arbetare, istället för att beskatta kapitalet, till exempel genom att beskatta land och fastigheter i högre grad än man gör idag? Orsaken är att man inte vågar. Socialdemokratin har fegat ur. För om man gjorde på det viset så skulle det finnas anledning att vara rädd för att kapitalet skulle rymma från Sverige. För att behaga omvärlden och den flyktiga kapitalmarknaden så säljer Sverige sin själ. De människor som befinner sig på samhällets lägsta nivå får ta smällen.

Men jag tror att de människor som vill försvara de fattiga människornas rättigheter måste komma ihåg mänsklighetens historia. Frihet och rättvisa har aldrig vunnits genom att lägga sig platt. Många människor har offrat sitt blod för den rättvisa som vi kunde känna av under några ljuva decennier under det förra århundradet. När kapitalet hotar att flytta från Sverige, så kan man faktiskt säga ”över vår döda kropp”. Vi har en försvarsmakt som försvarar Sveriges territoriala självständighet, men vem försvarar Sverige ifrån utländskt kapital som i lika hög grad hotar den svenska självständigheten? Ibland är det nödvändigt att dra en gräns. Men Socialdemokraterna har aldrig gjort det och därför ser vi nu en annan utveckling där frustrationen istället kanaliseras i mer påtaglig främlingsfientlighet.

Men det är inte bara högern och vänstern som gillar att ta pengar ifrån de fattiga arbetande människorna genom arbetsskatt. I kommande artiklar ska vi prata om hur bankerna och de rika tar pengar ifrån de fattiga.

Intressant nog så är det inte bara oljan som kan komma att ta slut i takt med att mänskligheten exploaterar allt större del av jorden. Vissa har även kommit på att fosfor som är ett nödvändigt näringsämne när vi odlar matmycket väl skulle kunna ta slut. Fosfor ingår naturligt i naturens kretslopp, men människan bryter stora mängder fosfor i gruvor, som vi sedan spolar ut i havet. Effekt magasin skriver om detta.

Hur kan man då vara så säker på att allt förr eller senare kommer att ta slut? Jo, därför att människans befolkning och dess ekonomiska aktivitet ökar exponentiellt, det vill säga explosionsartat. Följande film ger en ingående beskrivning av vad exponentiell tillväxt innebär:

Jag vet inte om bilden är fejkad, vilket jag dessvärre tror att den inte är. Men även om bilden inte är fejkad så  belyser ändå arbetslinjens grundtanke. Bilden råkar handla om Moderaterna, men arbetslinjen är något som förespråkas av samtliga riksdagspartier.

Om det nu undgått någon vad det är för speciellt med denna bild, så är det för att den liksom ger direkta associationer till en ”annan arbetslinje”, ur ett gånget sekel:

Naturligtvis är det snudd på osmakligt att jämföra dagens arbetslinje, med några bevingade ord av grym ironi ifrån förintelsen. Men även om dagens omänsklighet inte är direkt dödlig, så är den inte heller någonting att skämta om.

Smaken av arbetsläger sprider sig i alla fall i samhället. Idag publicerade Aftonbladet en historia som handlade om nyopererade Marie som tvingades leva på 1800 i månaden om hon inte inskriver sig på arbetsförmedlingen dagen hon blir hemskriven efter sin organdonation. Tidigare  i år har det rapporterats om hur människor under cancerbehandling, med cellgifterna fortfarande verkandes i kroppen ska tvingas ut på arbetsmarknaden. Bloggaren Emelie har en synnerligen obehaglig berättelse om behandlingen av hennes cancersjuka mamma.  Är det arbetet som ska göra dessa människor fria?

Vi har idag ett samhälle där en viss andel männnskor i enlighet med Milton Friedmans och Edmund Phelps teorier är arbetslösa. Milton friedman har jämfört det med hur det i varje fungerande ekonomi måste finnas ”varor på lager”. Han har bland annat jämfört det med hur skjortor i en klädbutik hänger oanvända på klädhängarna. På samma sätt menar han att ett samhälle behöver ett lager av människor som inte behövs, och som bland annat håller nere det allmänna priset på arbetskraft.

Men för att de arbetslösa ska hjälpa till att pressa ner samhällets löner, så får de inte ha det allt för bra. De bör alltså vara lagom fattiga. Samtidigt som det enligt den ovan nämnda teorin inte bör finnas plats för alla dessa människor på arbetsmarknaden, så måste man tvinga dem att kämpa febrilt om de platser som finns. En slags hela havet stormar, fast för vuxna med andra ord. Dag Josefsson har skrivit en intressant artikel på just detta tema. Givetvis försöker dagens politiker få ner arbetslösheten från allt för höga nivåer, åtminstone om man ska tro vad de säger. Åtminstone vissa politiker. Men frågan är om det ens finns några realistiska utsikter för detta på det sätt som världen utvecklas, med en allt svagare köpkraft hos låg och medelklass där den verkliga potentialen att skapa efterfrågan finns.  Så länge man inte gör någonting åt de växande klyftorna finns det nog knappast några utsikter för att på sikt minska arbetslösheten.

Sänkt skatt på arbete, och höjd skatt på land och naturresurser är nog det enda som på sikt skulle kunna vända denna destruktiva trend mot ökad ojämlikhet, men alla politiska partier har snöat in på synen om att alla värden skapas utifrån arbete. Det är arbetet som ska göra dig fri, inte landet, inte naturresurserna, inte tekniken eller kunskapen, inte kärleken eller omtanken, nej, det är arbetet. Ja, ”arbeit macht frei” som det faktiskt råkar heta på ren tyska!

Men det finns även ett annat mer feodalt sätt som man kan se på arbetslösa, som  gör att de kommer till mer direkt nytta för makterna. En uppfinningsrik Fas-3 handläggare vid namn Christian Bergh i Stockholm har kommit på att syftet med de låntidsarbetslösas aktivitetsgaranti i själva verket är att dessa människor måste ersätta staten för de pengar de fått i olika ersättningar.  Hör honom berätta på ett ljudklipp som går att hämta på den här bloggen.

Det betyder alltså att människor tvingas arbeta under tvivelaktiga former, utan att kunna välja vad de arbetar med, för att staten ska få intäkter. Vad detta rör sig om är inget annat än ett modernt återinförande av slaveriet, även om det inte är riktigt officiellt än, utan än så länge bara är den privata åsikten hos Herr Bergh.

Fast det geniala med hela upplägget är ändå dess politiska stabilitet. Arbetslinjen kan utan problem förespråkas av samtliga etablerade partier. Eftersom de arbetslösa ändå bara utgör en liten minoritet av befolkningen, runt 10%, så blir dessa människor aldrig tillräckligt många för att göra uppror, eller ens göra sig hörda på riktigt. Precis som fascistiska ledare av förr, så vet nämligen dagens maktelit att det inte finns någon risk för uppror så länge man bara attackerar minoriteter.
